Unleashing Potential, Breaking Through Bottlenecks—Inner Mongolia's Grain Harvesting and Loss Reduction Efforts Reach New Heights

2024/12/23

Foreword: In 2024, agricultural machinery departments at all levels in Inner Mongolia firmly established the awareness that "reducing losses means increasing production," actively acted, continuously exerted efforts, strengthened research and deployment, and enhanced service guidance.

[Agricultural Machinery Network - Local Agricultural Machinery] In 2024, agricultural machinery departments at all levels in Inner Mongolia firmly established the awareness that "reducing losses means increasing production," actively acted, continuously exerted efforts, strengthened research and deployment, enhanced service guidance, paid attention to training and promotion, and solidified and refined the achievements of mechanized harvesting loss reduction, explored potential, and improved levels, providing strong and powerful mechanized support for ensuring national food security.

Strengthen mobilization and deployment, and vigorously promote the implementation of mechanized harvesting loss reduction tasks. The autonomous region formulated and issued the "Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region 2024 Mechanized Harvesting Loss Reduction Work Plan for Major Grain and Oil Crops" and the "2024 Mechanized Harvesting Loss Monitoring and Survey Plan for Major Grain and Oil Crops," guiding various localities to meticulously organize, strengthen publicity, and improve services, promoting progress from top to bottom, and powerfully advancing the mobilization and deployment work of mechanized harvesting loss reduction throughout the agricultural machinery system. The Agricultural Mechanization Department of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Agricultural and Animal Husbandry Technology Promotion Center listed mechanized harvesting loss reduction as a key annual task, regularly carrying out mechanized harvesting loss reduction for major grain and oil crops, continuously consolidating achievements, exploring potential, and breaking through bottlenecks. Agricultural machinery departments at all levels in leagues, cities, and banners actively carried out mechanized harvesting loss reduction and monitoring and survey work, strengthening publicity and mobilization, operator training, technical guidance, equipment upgrading, quality management, policy guidance, and service guarantees, to improve the quality of harvesting operations and reduce losses during harvesting.

Strengthen publicity and training, and fully improve the awareness level of loss reduction. Agricultural machinery departments at all levels across the region vigorously carried out knowledge promotion on mechanized harvesting loss reduction through popular communication channels such as radio and television, newspapers, websites, short videos, and WeChat groups, and actively promoted guidance opinions on mechanized harvesting loss reduction technologies for crops such as wheat, rice, corn, soybeans, and rapeseed. The autonomous region's agricultural machinery department organized technical teams to visit Alxa League, Tongliao City, Ordos City, Hohhot City, and other places to conduct technical training on mechanized harvesting loss reduction, guiding farmers and operators to choose harvesting timing, suitable machinery, and harvesting methods based on local conditions, effectively improving the awareness and capability of grassroots staff, operational entities, and operators in mechanized harvesting loss reduction, and promoting better results in mechanized harvesting loss reduction work. On October 10, a training class on on-site operation and mechanized harvesting loss reduction technology application for corn grain mechanized harvesting was held in Tongliao City, where demonstrations of corn mechanized harvesting loss reduction operations were conducted on-site, and training on mechanized harvesting loss testing methods was provided. In 2024, the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Agricultural and Animal Husbandry Technology Promotion Center compiled and distributed more than 1,000 copies of the "Technical Guidelines for Mechanized Harvesting Loss Reduction of Major Grain and Oil Crops" to various leagues and cities for distribution to a wide range of growers and operators, and dispatched technical personnel to conduct over 2,000 person-times of mechanized harvesting loss reduction technical training. Agricultural machinery departments at all levels across the region cumulatively printed about 25,000 copies of promotional materials, held 70 on-site meetings, organized 141 training sessions, trained about 10,400 person-times, and produced 35 short videos, strengthening training and skill improvement through competitions, and holding 36 major skill competitions.

Strengthen service guidance, and fully ensure the implementation of loss reduction measures. Agricultural machinery departments at all levels across the region organized technical teams to go to the countryside for巡回 guidance, helping agricultural machinery operators correctly adjust the state of the machinery, striving to reduce harvesting losses, and ensuring that various loss reduction measures are implemented in place. Since July, the autonomous region's agricultural machinery department has organized technical teams to visit Bayannur City, Hulunbuir City, Ordos City, Hohhot City, and other places to conduct on-site monitoring and investigation of mechanized harvesting losses for wheat, corn, rapeseed, and other crops, and provide technical service guidance for mechanized harvesting loss reduction, continuously consolidating and improving the achievements of mechanized harvesting loss reduction work, and striving to reduce crop harvesting losses.

Strengthen monitoring and investigation, and comprehensively grasp crop mechanized harvesting losses. The Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Agricultural and Animal Husbandry Technology Promotion Center conducted tracking monitoring and investigation of corn, wheat, and rapeseed mechanized harvesting losses in Bayannur City, Tongliao City, Ordos City, Hohhot City, Hulunbuir City, and other places. Agricultural machinery departments at all levels across the region conducted monitoring and investigation of mechanized harvesting losses for wheat, corn, rice, soybeans, and rapeseed at 560 sampling points in accordance with the requirements of the monitoring and investigation plan. In 2024, colleagues on the agricultural machinery front across the region worked together to reduce losses, unleash the potential for mechanized harvesting loss reduction, and break through the bottlenecks in mechanized harvesting loss reduction work. On the basis of the good results achieved in 2023, they pushed the mechanized harvesting loss reduction work to a new level.
